About Our Program The adaptive sports & fitness program gives individuals with a primary physical impairment the opportunity to participate in a variety of year-round sports and recreational activities such as adaptive sports and fitness classes.
Through these offerings, we strive to provide safe and welcoming places for participants of all ages and abilities to socialize and engage in physical activity and fitness.
ADAPTIVE FITNESS Our fitness center provides a well- equipped, accessible gym designed for people of all abilities. It offers fitness services and modified group classes to help participants achieve their fitness goals. To learn more about adaptive fitness, please contact Aleksandra Gebska at agebska@sralab.org .
ADAPTIVE SPORTS Since its inception in 1981, our adaptive sports program has been recognized as a national leader in the field. Each year the program engages some 450 athletes, a number that continues to grow. In addition to team sports, including sled hockey and wheelchair softball, basketball and rugby, we offer specialty programs for youth and veterans. The goal of our program is to increase participants’ self-confidence and community belonging, promote healthy and active lifestyles, and introduce a sense of possibility to athletes who might not otherwise have access to adaptive sports and recreational opportunities. To learn more about adaptive sports, please contact Kelsey LeFevour at klefevour02@sralab.org .
In addition to these programs, our staff engages more than 200 hospital inpatients through sports each year.
